Xbox fans wondering why Rare’s Everwild didn’t show up at Sunday’s E3 showcase now have an answer: The studio has completely rebooted the open-world adventure game under a new creative. Rare veteran Gregg Mayles is now serving as his replacement, and Everwild has reportedly restarted from scratch, with the team optimistically planning to launch in 2024. Everwild is a nature-focused action-adventure game from Xbox Game Studios in development by Rare for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and Microsoft Windows. They're still figuring that out, and it's a mess. They've rebooted that thing and they don't exactly know what the state of it really is in terms of what they expect it to be. UPDATE Developer Ben Wasse published an impassioned blog post on Medium regarding the recent events and developments related to the fact that the game hes making with his wife has signed a timed-exclusivity deal with Epic Games to launch first on the Epic Games Store. They try to talk diplomatically about it, "Oh, people hear things about it - creative director leaving, things getting rebooted - and that's overstated."
